A number of businesses came to a standstill yesterday at Kisii Town due to power outages. It has been a tendency that most parts of Kisii County have to be disconnected from power on Wednesdays. Over recent months, this has stretched to at least two days a week.

Kisii county residents have come out angrily to rebuke this inconveniencing act from the Kenya Power and Lighting Company.

Raphael Makori, a cyber cafe owner at Nyatero Plaza in Kisii Town was enraged for yesterday’s power blackout. He had woken up in the wee hours to his business so as to complete printing copies in time ordered by a client. But this was derailed by the blackout.

“KPLC should desist from disconnecting power, it is hindering us from making an income," aid the upset Makori.

Owners of eateries have also bashed the Kenya Power and Lighting Company for the same since it causes perishable goods to be stale. In the aftermath, the owners are left to incur losses. 

Small scale hoteliers have bemoaned of not having the financial ability to purchase generators, which is a substitute for electricity.
