Kajiado governor Joseph Ole Lenku has expressed joy over gains made so far after meeting president Uhuru Kenyatta sometime in the past.
In the meeting, as reported by the governor on his official Facebook page, issues concerning the debt that the county owes staff whose contracts had elapsed and retirement package for retirees were discussed.
President Uhuru committed himself to offer a solution through the release of funds.
The governor noted words full of accolades to the president for solving the problem after directing the release of 1.2 billion shillings from treasury to the county.
The money is going to be used to pay staff whose contracts elapsed and also retirees who are yet to retire.
"Am happy our meeting with President Kenyatta at State House last week on several issues affecting Kajiado County has begun to bear fruits," read part of the governor's post.
The governor added, "We thank the President for the release of Sh 1.2 Billion to settle the dues owed to staff whose contracts elapsed recently.
"This money will also pay the retirees whose plight we brought to the attention of the President."
A message of gratitude was also sent by the governor to those who accompanied him to see the president.
"Am grateful to Kajiado leaders with whom we met the President," said the governor.
