President Uhuru Kenyatta on Thursday launched the Young African Works program.
During the launch of the program, President Kenyatta, who is completing his second and final term in power, was left in stitches when a young woman asked him whether he had dreams when he was young.
“I was wondering what your dreams were when you were young?” she asked leaving Uhuru in stitches.
In response, Uhuru said: “I think just like any other young person, I dreamed of being successful. I dreamed of… you know everyone is a creature of the environment.”
The president further said that he is committed to change the lives of youths in the country. He said that his government has put in place different measures to ensure youths reap big from devolution.
Uhuru went ahead to challenge youths to explore different opportunities created by his government.
On his part, President and CEO, MasterCard Foundation Reeta Roy said that the program will transform the lives of many youths in the country.
“Young Africa works will create multiplier effects in the economy. When entrepreneurs and small businesses are empowered, they create work. And work creates new work. Opportunity begets opportunity,” she said.
