Even as the war against graft intensifies, it is a fact that the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) will never arrest DP William Ruto despite being mentioned as the most corrupt individual in Kenya.
Just as is the case with the ICC, a serving president together with his deputy cannot be arrested since they enjoy immunity by virtue of their positions.
With the ongoing high profile arrests by the office of the DPP, a section of Kenyans have been making calls to have the DP arrested and prosecuted at the court of law.
These calls are close to impossible because if the Deputy president is arrested, then it means the president himself must remain within to avoid a power vacuum.
Secondly, the President is the commander in chief of the Kenyan forces.
This also means that the deputy president is the second-in-command after the president of the republic.
It is common knowledge that a junior cannot arrest his boss, and with regard to this, a police officer of whatever rank cannot dare arrest a president or his deputy unless it is a coup.
So for those calling for the arrest of the Deputy president William Rutto will have to wait until he exits power.
