There was a light moment at Milimani Law Courts when lawyer Cliff Ombeta introduced Embakasi Member of Parliament Babu Owino's wife to the court.
Ombeta argued that Babu Owino needed to be released on bail because he is a family man.
Cliff Ombeta went ahead to introduce Babu Owino's wife as evidence that the accused was indeed a family man, citing that he has three children who depend on him.
People in the court broke into laughter and Magistrate Francis Andayi went ahead to joke on the matter, by telling the prosecution to confirm that indeed the lady is Owino's wife.
However, the prosecution opposed Owino's bail because they felt he would interfere with the case witnesses.
"He is well known to the victim of the crime and he has made attempts to reach witnesses especially the victim's father," the prosecution said.
Magistrate Andayi therefore directed that the Embakasi East MP be remanded for seven more days as he awaits a pre-bail report from the probation department.
Babu Owino was arrested and detained on Saturday for allegedly shooting DJ Evolve of B club.
The legislator denied the charges.
