A Kisii based activist, Joseph Kiai has criticised the government for what he terms as a rush to implement the new education system yet they have failed in upholding the old system.
He said the new system will not function if the same officials who ran the old system are still in office.
“The problem is not the new education system but the stakeholders," said Kiai.
"It will be a waste of time and resources when the same individuals who have seen the old system fail remain in the education offices,” he added.
According to the activist, greed by some individuals in the education system is to blame for the failure in the old system.
“We have seen great persons come from the old education system which means when handled well can yield much," said the activist.
"The problem with our current education system is corruption and political influences,” he said.
“The education sector should be an independent institution free of political influence otherwise introduction of the new system will be a waste of time," he added.
