Facial scrub and body exfoliant

Give yourself an invigorating facial and body scrub. Make a paste of 3 parts baking soda to 1 part water. Rub in a gentle circular motion to exfoliate the skin. Rinse clean. This is gentle enough for daily use.

Antacid

Baking soda is a safe and effective antacid to relieve heartburn, sour stomach, acid indigestion and constipation. For instructions refer to the baking soda package.

Insect bites and itchy skin

For insect bites, make a paste out of baking soda and water, and apply as a salve on the affected skin. To ease the itch, shake some baking soda into your hand and rub it into damp skin after a shower.

Sunburns

Your fragile sunburned skin will benefit from soaking in a mixture of baking soda and water. Draw a warm bath and add half a cup of baking soda

Teeth whitener

For a natural way to whiten your teeth, get a lemon juice and mix  1/2 teaspoon of baking soda. Spread the mixture onto your teeth and leave on for five minutes. Then brush your teeth and rinse. This method should be used no more than once a week, as excessive use could potentially damage your tooth enamel.

Kitchen scrub

Sprinkle baking soda on the surfaces in your kitchen and use a sponge or rag to scrub. You can add lemon, lavender or peppermint essential oil to add a natural and healing fragrance to the cleaning product.

Deodorizes smelly shoes Can’t get that smell out of your shoes? Sprinkle baking soda inside your shoes and the smell will clear up within minutes.

Improve kidney function

As an alkaline substance, baking soda buffers acids in the body and helps to keep pH levels balanced. Low-functioning kidneys have a hard time removing acid from the body, so consuming baking soda will help with just that.
