1. Kingi is married to Liz Kingi and have two children.
2. He studied law at the University of Nairobi. He was in private practice in Mombasa before joining politics.
3. The two-time governor joined active politics in 2007 when he was elected represent Magarini Constituency as area MP until 2013.
4. His bodyguard was killed in 2012 at a rally by a group of machete-wielding goons suspected to be members of the outlawed Mombasa Republican Council (MRC).

8. His official residence is valued at Sh145 million. Kingi was probed by anti-graft officials over the residence following claims that he irregularly the home without following the Public Procurement and Disposal Act.
