The coast region has been decrying historical injustices and marginalisation from the current and past governments.
Leaders in the region since the March 4, 2013 general elections have been fronting for representation at the national level and government to implement the TJRC report.
At some point, leaders led by Mombasa and Kilifi governors addressed the press, calling for secession of the region.
The secession Bill would be tabled in Parliament by Kilifi North MP Owen Baya, despite opposition and criticism from other leaders.
