Volunteers lacked equipment to carry out the rescue mission.

Area MCA Peter Nderitu Mwangi, who is a former Kenya Navy officer, led the mission.

The boy was in the company of his colleagues who had visited the farm to look for indigenous vegetables locally known as Managu when they decided to swim only for the tragedy to occur.

The parents of the boy realized he had not reported home in the evening and when his colleagues were questioned, they informed them that he had drowned in the dam.

His clothes were found by the dam side.
