Luo Nyanza has always been known to vote in one direction during elections, a characteristic it, however, shares with Central Kenya and Rift Valley regions.

However, Nyanza is very likely to beat the others in the approaching referendum headed by opposition leader Raila Odinga who doubles up as its political kingpin.

Its worth noting that Nyanza is completely rallied behind the former Prime Minister and is not about to turn back at this time when he needs it to realize the changes.

But Nyanza will also be setting a record as the region which wholeheartedly backed the push, considering that the others are very likely to scatter their votes in the bid.

In Central Kenya, it's very likely that a section will side with Deputy President William Ruto.

Some voters feel indebted to him after he twice supported their leader and President Uhuru Kenyatta for his twin successful presidential bids.

Though Uhuru has hinted at backing the changes, Ruto remains opposed to a section of the proposed changes, for instance, the clause about expanding the executive.

In Rift Valley, it's worth noting that only part of it is under Ruto, this being the Kalenjin speaking part, while the Turkana side is largely allied to Raila and the Maasai side being a swing zone.

There is also divided allegiances in Coast, Western where Ruto enjoys some backing and has some allied leaders elected on the Jubilee Party where he is the Deputy boss.

This makes Nyanza the only region that will speak in one voice in the referendum which also seeks to revert the nation to the initial parliamentary governance system.
