Eight thousand elderly persons from Gatundu have benefited from the Cash Transfer Programme so far.
The programme by Department of Children and Social Development Kiambu says the remaining 11 sub counties in Kiambu County will be addressed in the next disbursement phase.
The exercise that was conducted by the Labour and East African Affairs Cabinet Secretary Phyllis Kandie in Kiambu as part of the government’s efforts to integrate the elderly in the development of the country.
Speaking during the event, Kiambu women rep urged the elderly to effectively use the cash to benefit them.
“Eight thousand elderly persons have benefited in Gatundu, with further evaluation of the 11 sub-counties scheduled to continue throughout the year,” she added.
