Elgeyo Marakwet Senator Kipchumba Murkomen has castigated the way opposition politicians were fronting the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI).
Murkomen argued that leaders allied to the opposition were erring by using the initiative to forcefully advance their selfish politics.
In a video shared on Facebook, Saturday, the vocal senator noted that President Uhuru Kenyatta had a genuine objective of the initiative, which was to foster cohesiveness amongst Kenyans.
However, he lambasted opposition politicians for holding a double-speak position over the matter by claiming that it would unify the country and at the same time alleging it would finish political careers of some influential leaders.
Furthermore, the Senator who is a close ally of Deputy President William Ruto expressed disappointment with the way Kenyans were being involved in the process.
He opined it entailed a dictatorial and undemocratic process because Kenyans were being forced to support an idea they do not know its motives.
"If we are bringing Kenyans together, why is this thing forced down on throats of Kenyans?" wondered Murkomen.
The Senate majority leader observed that the BBI report should be prepared with the interests of all citizens and leaders in mind through consultation and transparent decision making.
"If they think changing the constitution is to disadvantage other Kenyans...is to ensure that other people don't ascend to positions of leadership...I want to tell them we are thinking far much ahead of you," Murkomen noted.
According to him, the proponents should abandon their 'don't care' attitude and embrace serious dialogue with every Kenyan in order to come up with an inclusive and satisfactory outcome.
