In an interview with the Nation, the county boss stressed on the need for the expansion of the executive, which has been proposed as the best way to achieving inclusivity.

She proposed the introduction of three new seats; the Prime Minister and two deputies, which she wants achieved under the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) amendment push.

Waiguru said that among the seats, if created, at least one should be allocated to the Mt Kenya region, vowing to personally see to it that the region gets its share of the cake.

“For the 2022 politics, I am reviewing the options available but I will be seeking to sit on the bargaining table since I want to contribute to the governance of this country, and I believe I have what it takes to contribute to the service of our people," she said in an interview with the Nation.

Waiguru also said that in the same breath, women must take up a seat in the proposed setup.

"We hope that we shall have two leaders deputising the Prime Minister and one Deputy President, totalling five positions, and 30 per cent of these positions must go to women,” added Waiguru.

The former Devolution CS who has been openly backing the BBI termed it the reason behind her reconciliation with ODM boss Raila Odinga, who founded it alongside President Uhuru Kenyatta.

She also expressed confidence that should the changes be made, then Mt Kenya is assured of a continued stay in power after the exit of Uhuru, who is expected to retire in 2022.
