Kwale Governor Salim Mvurya has vowed to take his political opponents head-on saying his silence should not be taken for weakness.
His opponents have allegedly been going round the county spoiling his name claiming he had not done any development.
"Everywhere they go, they carry my name for this or that. They have no other agenda. Let them know that from today going forward, I will not take their propaganda lying down. I will deal with them," declared the governor on Friday.
He was addressing jubilant crowds at M'bande ECD in Mwavumbo ward, Kinango Sub-county which he officially opened. He said the county will pay full fees for four years for an orphan boy from the area who scored a B- (minus) at Form Four several years ago but efforts by the local leadership to have him go for further studies failed.
The governor also pledged to pay fees for a girl from a poor background studying at Kingwede Secondary School who did not achieve cut-off marks for national school, following pleas from the community.
"I want you also to identify land so that we can build a dispensary here," he said.
He cautioned residents from tribal propaganda being spread by some elected leaders.
"As the governor of this county, I will not allow tribal politics to be preached in Kwale County. If someone has leadership ambitions, let them sell their agenda, not divide residents along tribal and ethnic grounds. I will not allow that at all," he said.
Deputy Governor Fatuma Achani who accompanied the governor said anyone who does not support Governor Mvurya is bound to flop in their leadership quest.
"Governor Mvurya has shown us the right way. We should all support him but some people are opposing him. Let me tell them that they are bound to flop," she said. She once again reiterated she is fit to take over the governorship mantle from Mvurya in 2022.
"I am the only one to take Governor Mvurya's agenda and legacy to the next level. When Governor Mvurya says I should take over from him in 2022, what's wrong with that?" she asked.
