Mr Hillary Obutu, a brother-in-law to Governor John Nyagarama, was slapped with a month-long civil jail after being found guilty by a Magistrate court.

Sleuths have been after him for two months now, after he failed to clear debts owed to several people, who had ganged up and dragged him to court.

After several months of hide and seek, Mr Obutu was arrested earlier this year and committed to civil jail. He cleared part of the money to secure his release.

On Tuesday, he was sent to Kisii prison where he is now required to clear debts amounting to Sh250,000 to secure again his freedom.

He is brother to First Lady Naomi Nyagarama and works in the County Government of Nyamira as a senior driver but is said to have been absconding duty.

"He owes me Sh150,000 and has failed to clear the debt. He only sent me little and decided to start hide and seek. That's why I decided to arrest him," said one of his victim.

"He will remain in prison until he pays the money. His other creditors are waiting for him. We can't give him peace at all," he added.

Early this year, Hillary was also accused of causing commotion in the county government offices after he stormed together with other family members.
