A Member of County Assembly in Kisii County has lamented over the stalled Suneka Airstrip project in Bonchari.
Bomorenda Ward MCA John Ombati while addressing residents surrounding the Airstrip during a public baraza protested that politicians have been using the stalled project as a campaign tool.
He called on leaders from the area to join hands to push for the completion of the project.
"Greedy politicians have been using Suneka Airstrip project to campaign claiming that once they get to power the project's construction will be complete. It is sad that the project has stalled for years despite numerous promises by politicians to push for the its completion," said Ombati.
The vocal MCA argued that the contractor who was given the construction work is lazy and the contract should be revoked immediately.
He said the government should move with speed to award a different contractor the tender to complete the project.
"I urge Interior Cs Fred Matiang'i who is coordinating national government projects to consider pushing for the completion of Suneka Airstrip or else residents be given the land to cultivate and grow crops," he stated.
