Nandi Senator Samson Cherargei has hailed Justice John Onyiego for 'snubbing' swearing-in of Kiambu Deputy Governor James Nyoro.
Onyiego had been slated to preside over the function which had elicited sharp emotions from members of political class.
And Cherargei, who voted against ouster of Governor Ferdinand Waititu, said the swearing-in of Nyoro, which has since been postponed, was illegal.
"Thank you judge Onyiego for standing with justice by not participating in a illegal swearing of kiambu Deputy Governor @james Nyoro . This was going to be travesty of justice!" he said.
Senate voted on Wednesday to kick out Waititu but he has since moved to court to contest the ouster.
Senate Speaker Kenneth Lusaka confirmed gazettment of Waititu's impeachment, although he distanced himself from the swearing-in of Nyoro.
"I signed off a gazette notice after the vote was taken," Mr Lusaka told the Nation on Thursday morning.
"As to whether it has been published, I really can't say. But, yes, I signed it," he added.
Waititu becomes the first Governor in the second goverment under Devolution to be impeached by the assembly and Senate.
