Nyamira Governor John Nyagarama has reorganized his goverment amid intensive lobbying and jostling for vacant positions.
For the last three months, Nyagarama has stamped his authority, sacking his most trusted lieutenants, who were key in his goverment.
Nyagarama relieved off his long time Chief of Staff Job Ong'ombe and his deputy Kefa Mocheche. The two played a big role in Nyagarama's administration.
Lindley Nyambane, the county's attorney, was also kicked out of the goverment. Nyagarama also sacked all ministers, forcing them to reapply afresh.
And now, Nyagarama has picked former Economic Advisor Joseph Amwoma as Chief of Staff, getting many people off guard.
Mr Amwoma narrowly missed chance to be picked as Chief Officer. He was also among those shortlisted for ministerial job.
"I am happy that the governor has given me opportunity to oversee his staff. This is a huge honour. I will serve diligently," Amwona said in a phone call.
Nyagarama also replaced his long time political advisor Joash Gisore with former MCA Zipporah Osoro. Mrs Osoro is an ODM supporter who played role in his re-election.
The former nominated MCA was among those also shortlisted for ministerial jobs. She also missed appointment as Chief Officer.
"I can confirm this. I thank the governor for bestowing faith and confidence in me. This is a nice thing for me given my political knowledge," she said.
Applicants are now lobbying for ministerial jobs in the county government of Nyamira. Those nominated as Chief Officers are waiting for vetting in the assembly.
