Twilight girls are thronging night clubs and bars in Nyamira county because parents have failed in their parental duties, Nyamira County Commissioner Amos Mariba has said.
Speaking on Saturday in Nyamira town, Mariba accused parents in the county of sleeping in their jobs.
He said young girls sneak out of their houses at night to go with men to night clubs and bars.
The county security chief urged police officers more especially those patrolling at night not to spare any twilight girl found loitering at night in Nyamira town.
"Twilight girls loitering in Nyamira town at night won't be condoned anymore because it has come to my attention that most of them are school going children," Mariba said.
He further claimed that bar and night club owners have condoned young girls to work in the entertainment joints.
According to Mariba, girls should not drop school to opt to work in bars and night clubs.
"Local chiefs in deep villages need to be vigilant to ensure no young girl drops out of school to venture in the sex trade. Whoever drops out of school should be forced to go back to curb the increased number of girls joining the illegal business," he noted.
