Kenya's capital city risks losing its glory, Gatundu South Member of Parliament Moses Kuria has warned.
The vocal Jubilee legislator has pointed out that the broken public transport is what will make Nairobi a failed city.
"Nairobi will lose its regional competitiveness unless we have a functional public transport system. The traffic jams in this city can drive anyone insane," he noted on Thursday.
In a long Facebook post, Kuria blamed Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko's administration over poor public transport system which has become a nightmare to passengers and motorists.
"And this is not about building more roads. It's about ensuring we have a system that brings into and out of the city the highest number of people with the highest standards of convenience," he posted.
The MP advised the county boss to suspend other ongoing programmes and projects and focus on implementing the proposed Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) and Intra-City Light Rail System which he said will ease congestion on roads.
Kuria further noted that garbage menace was another major challenge in the populous city, urging Sonko to visit Kisumu and learn from his counterpart Governor Anyang' Nyong'o.
'Keep Nairobi clean. Perhaps visit Kisumu for a benchmark. Kisumu is incredibly clean. Governor Anyang' Nyong'o is working," he added.
