As political fire threatens to raze down the Jubilee Party amid calls for Deputy President William Ruto to resign, the DP has been advised to quit the government and possibly do something dramatic to warrant his arrest, thus win sympathy votes.
The DP has been on the receiving end over the past few days with politicians allied to President Uhuru Kenyatta and ODM leader Raila Odinga now asking him to resign for allegedly undermining the head of state.
In a press conference at Parliament buildings on Monday, nominated MP Maina Kamanda he stated that he is actually praying that Ruto never becomes president.
A few months ago, a group of MPs allied to ODM leader Raila Odinga and President Uhuru Kenyatta dared Ruto to resign.
"If you are dissatisfied with the leadership of President Uhuru Kenyatta, I dare you to resign,” said Tiaty MP William Kamket.
Lawyer and political commentator Danstan Omari believes that the DP should follow the resignation route if he is to keep his presidential ambitions alive.
He further suggests that for the DP to win sympathy votes come 2022, he should provoke the President to warrant his arrest and arraignment, something he says will see his popularity go up and thus win sympathy votes.
" Ruto should provoke the President so that he is arrested, take a plea in court and will create a fanatical constituency. For him to succeed, he must be outside government, be thrown to Kamiti, if need be," said the analyst.
This he says will make his followers fiercely fight for him and win him sympathy votes.
