Embattled Kiambu Governor Ferdinand Waititu on Thursday revealed his plans to set up a new office in Kiambu town.
Waititu has been out of office following a directive issued out by Anti-corruption court magistrate Lawrence Mugambi over Sh588 million graft case he is battling.
Speaking at Limuru Market, the governor dismissed changes that had been made by Kiambu Deputy Governor Dr James Nyoro.
“Everyone knows that when the governor delegates powers to his duty it is on voluntary basis and is done in writing. There is nowhere I delegated powers to the deputy governor,” Waititu said.
He also vowed to have county staff laid off by Nyoro back to work, adding that there will be a recruitment of new officials by the county government.
“From next week, we shall advertise so that we can reconstitute the county public service board and begin recruiting personnel including doctors and nurses whom we have a shortage of as well as renew the expired contracts,” Waititu stated.
Waititu's sentiments come shortly after Deputy Speaker Prof Kithure Kindiki announced that the Senate had allowed the Governor to access Kiambu County offices.
Dr Nyoro has, however, dismissed the decision by the Senate.
