Makueni Senator Mutula Kilonzo Jr has taken a swipe at the police and the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) following the dramatic arrest of Governor Mike Sonko.
The Nairobi County boss was on Friday arrested and subsequently airlifted from Voi to Nairobi following allegations of corruption.
In a video making rounds on social media, it shows the governor giving sleuths a hard time before being subdued in a dramatic version.
On Saturday, Kilonzo Jr said the arrest will not serve any purpose other than making Sonko a hero.
"The mishandling of and dramatic airlifting of Govenor Sonko & front page spread in all newspapers has not served any purpose other than make him a hero ! The court day will be a scene from Hollywood," he tweeted.
Sonko is accused of irregular procurement worth Sh357 million. He's currently in police custody awaiting to be charged.
In a statement on Friday, he denied involvement in corruption deals, adding that he is ready to take EACC head-on in court.
"I have read word by word the statement from the DPP that details reasons for my arrest and nothing gives me more confidence than leafing through it knowing very well we have the facts to dismantle this choreographed lies," he said.
