Siaya Senator James Orengo has called upon Deputy President William Ruto to resign and concentrate in his 2022 presidential ambitions.
The DP, though silent on his bid, has been accused lately of dividing his attention between serving President Uhuru Kenyatta championing for his pending bid to succeed him.
Orengo says that the DP is therefore distracted and unable to fully serve the government, as he too has his own interests which are completely different from those of the president.
Consequently, he says, the two are in two different worlds, with each pursuing his own goals, which makes Ruto the wrong man to deputize Uhuru as things stand now.
"The DP has made his ambitions of 2022 presidency clear, which is making it hard for him to serve the President,” he said in an interview on Point Blank, Wednesday night.
He as well noted that so distracted is the DP to an extent that he is now contradicting the same government he is part of, especially on matters graft, another reason why he should resign.
He cited the instance where Ruto earlier in the year contradicted the amount of money said to have been lost in the Arror and Kimwarer dam scandals by the investigative bodies.
Ruto came out to refute reports that the nation lost Sh21 billion, insisting that only 7 billion had been paid to the contractor, landing him.in trouble with opposition boss Raila Odinga.
According to Orengo, this is enough proof that the time has come for him to call it a day.
"Ruto should not be speaking from the sidelines because he is in Government. If I were Ruto, I would do the honourable thing by resigning," added Orengo.
