The race for the 2022 general election is steadily taking shape as politicians across the divide put in place measures to contest for favorite seats.
In Machakos, the battle line is being drawn as some politicians seek to succeed Governor Alfred Mutua.
Governor Mutua is serving his final term in office and is yet to hint on his possible successor.
Among those likely to battle for Mutua’s top seat in 2022 are vocal female politicians.
Here are 3 vocal female Kamba politicians who could succeed Governor Mutua in 2022.
1. Dr Susan Musyoka
The former Machakos women representative is likely to bid for the governor seat in 2022.
Musyoka lost re-election in the 2017 general election to Joyce Kamene.
During a media briefing at Machakos Golf Club two weeks ago, Musyoka hinted on making a comeback in 2022.
2. Wavinya Ndeti
She is among vocal and experienced female Kamba politicians.
Ndeti unsuccessfully contested the Machakos governor seat in 2013 and 2017 general election.
Despite losing, the former Kathiani MP says she will not give up fighting for electoral justice.Ndeti who is not seeing eye to eye with governor Mutua is likely to bid for the Machakos governor seat in 2022 election.
3. Agnes Kavindu
She unsuccessfully contested the Machakos women representative seat in the 2017 general election.
Kavindu is former Machakos Senator Johnson Muthama’s estranged wife and is likely to make another attempt in 2022 polls.
She is currently a member of the Building Bridges Committee that was formed after the March 9, 2018 famous handshake between President Uhuru Kenyatta and opposition leader Raila Odinga.
It is a matter of wait and see if the said politicians will be on the Machakos gubernatorial ballot in 2022 election.
