Renowned lawyer and Thirdway Alliance Party leader Dr Ekuru Aukot has called on President Uhuru Kenyatta and veteran opposition Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) leader Raila Odinga to support his Punguza Mizigo initiative.
He made the call on Wednesday during an exclusive interview on Media Max-owned K24 Television.
According to Dr Aukot, who is a former presidential contender, his initiative is way better than the Building Bridges Initiative which he branded as an extravagant use of resources.
"So I am really wondering why the president is reluctant to support Punguza Mizigo even his own brother, political brother Raila Odinga has been pursuing certain things, inclusivity for example," Dr Aukot said.
Aukot doubled down on his criticism of the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI), saying that it was unconstitutional and would seek to have its disbandment.
The Punguza Mizigo Initiative is aimed at reducing the burden of a bloated government on the taxpayers and seeks to target resources at the grassroots levels where, Aukot contends, the ordinary Kenyan is likely to benefit.
Should the Punguza Mizigo fail to be adopted by Parliamentarians, the renowned lawyer said it would inform the referred question so that Kenyans can directly weigh in on the matter.
