Kisumu has emerged the most populous county in Luo Nyanza according to the results of 2019 population and housing census, conducted from August 24 to August 31, 2019.According to the results released by the Director General of the Kenya National Bureau of Statistics (KNBS) Zachary Mwangi on Monday at State House Nairobi, Kenya’s total population is 47, 564, 296. Of the total population, 23,548,056 are men, 24, 016, 240 are women, while 1,504 are intersex.In Luo Nyanza, Kisumu is the most populous with 1, 155, 574. Homa Bay is the second populous with 1, 131, 950 followed by Migori County with 1, 116, 436 while Siaya is the least populated with 993, 183 residents.Speaking while officially launching the results, President Uhuru Kenyatta said he results will now help in planning for the Kenyan public.“I do expect as has been stated by the Director General of the Bureau that the National Bureau of statistics will release other census volumes as scheduled and the results made available to our planners and to the Kenyan public,” said the Head of State in a live event at State House.
