Orange Democratic Movement party leader Raila Odinga on Sunday departed for the US where he's set to attend National Prayer Breakfast.
President Donald Trump through state department invited the veteran opposition leader following his truce with President Uhuru Kenyatta.
During the Building Bridges Initiative consultative meetings at Kakamega, Odinga revealed that he had been invited along with President Uhuru Kenyatta.
"I will be leaving for the US with President Uhuru Kenyatta to America. Courtesy of handshake, we were invited," he said, in reference to his truce with the president.
At the US, Mr. Odinga, said, be will be meeting African ambassadors whom he will brief about the infrastructure development in the continent.
"Departing for the USA to attend the National Prayer Breakfast in Washington, DC. I shall also hold a round-table meeting with African Ambassadors there to brief them on the Continent’s Infrastructure and continental trade agenda," he wrote.
President Uhuru Kenyatta is also expected to join Odinga in the US within this week for the event. It's not clear if the two leaders will be hosted by President Donald Trump.
Raila was appointed the AU special envoy for infrastructural development, a position which has seen him traverse different countries.
