It emerges that the Oginga political family holds special honour for the Kenyatta family despite the enmity that has existed between them for decades.

So precious was founding father Jomo Kenyatta to his first Vice Jaramogi Oginga that Jaramogi decided to immortalize him at one of his houses.

This was revealed by opposition leader Raila Odinga during an interview in 2017.

The former Prime Minister revealed that one of the rooms at their Kisumu home was named after Kenyatta.

Speaking to a Nation reporter Kamau Ngotho, the former Prime Minister revealed that the room set aside by Oginga himself to house Kenyatta when he visited the home.

It was also decorated to Kenyatta's taste by the older Oginga who understood what Kenyatta liked having been close friends until their fallout in 1966.

“Yes, we are. In our Kisumu family home, there is a room we call ‘Kenyatta’ to this day. It was reserved for Mzee Jomo Kenyatta and decorated to his taste by my father," he was quoted.

However, it seems that the friendship is back thanks to Raila's truce with President Uhuru Kenyatta who is Jomo's son early last year.

Raila added that the love has never been lost despite the Oginga's sufferings in the hands of the Kenyatta family, including detentions and a series of alleged election riggings.
