The county boss on Sunday said that rather, he will be seeking to venture into national politics, noting that he has no plans of leaving the political arena any soon.

He added that he will be using his party, the Civil Renewal Party (CRP) for that purpose, a party currently under the leadership of Nicholas Ndegwa, James Mwangi and Ephantus Githae.

"Since I will not be a governor after 2022, I'm not leaving the political arena soon. I will use my CRP to venture into national politics,” he said in Kianyata Location in Mugoiri Location.

The county boss has lately been listed among politicians who could succeed President Uhuru Kenyatta as the Mt Kenya political kingpin, as Uhuru approaches the lapse of his term.

However, he (Iria) has been largely silent on his plans, and also didn't reveal the seat he will be seeking in 2022, as he seeks to remain active.

He has also remained largely silent amid the ongoing rebellion in Mt Kenya, where the majority of members have rebelled against Uhuru in favour of his deputy William Ruto.
