Globally renowned climate activist Greta Thunberg has finally arrived in the United States of America after a treacherous 15-day journey on the Atlantic ocean.
Addressing members of the press on Wednesday after her much-anticipated arrival, the 16-year-old said that it was an honour to have made the journey to make her stand on climate change.
She was met by a crowd of her supporters.
"My message to all the activists is to just keep going, and I know it really may seem impossible and hopeless sometimes — it always does — so you just have to keep going because if you try hard enough and long enough you will make a difference,” Thunberg said.
“And, if enough people stand together and fight for the right thing anything can happen, " she added.
The Swedish activist is expected to grace a series of events in New York under the auspices of the United Nations where she will urge nations across the world to take steps to roll back the spectre of climate change.
She sailed on a zero-emissions yacht to curtail the environmental impact her journey would have.
Thunberg was catapulted to global fame a year ago after she staged a sit-in at the Swedish Parliament to protest inaction on climate change issues.
Her sit-in has inspired hundreds of similar protests across the world.
