In a tweet on Wednesday, Murkomen said Miguna should enjoy the benefits of the handshake and the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI), which seek to unite all Kenyans.

He wondered how the country would be in a position to tolerate divergent views, if it could not accept the Canadian-based lawyer back into the country.

The frustrations Miguna Miguna is facing epitomizes the hypocrisy of Kenyan politics of “change” and “Kenya Mpya”. It paints ugly BBI and handshake. If we can’t embrace Miguna Miguna with his divergent ideas, how shall we pretend to unite a nation? Miguna Miguna should be facilitated and not frustrated," Murkomen said.

Miguna, who has been an implacable critic of the handshake, said he had been ejected from an Air France plane bound for Kenya minutes after boarding.

A red alert was reportedly issued to airlines not to allow him on board. The government had initially said it would comply with a court order to facilitate his return.
