The two day ceremony planned by the Oginga family to mark the same has been pushed to next week over what the family says are unforeseen circumstances.

According to Oginga's first born son and EALA lawmaker Oburu Oginga, the plan was to conduct the same in Kisumu County, the first of such held away from Jaramogi's Bondo backyard.

However, he told the Sunday Standard on phone, the same has been scuttled by the fact that the County Governor Anyang' Nyong'o is still recovering after being taken in last week.

"Given that the Governor is sick and the month also seemed squeezed for us, we decided to postpone the event to next month,” he said.

The event is set to attract big and influential names from across the globe, considering that Jaramogi and his children, including opposition leader and African Union Infrastructure Envoy Raila Odinga are global figures.

He told the paper on phone that the event will begin at the St Peters Cathedral and later a public lecture at the Tom Mboya Labour College will be given.

"The public lecture has attracted scholars, leaders, students and the public who are all welcome to the event,” he said.
