This comes at a time when President Uhuru Kenyatta and opposition boss Raila Odinga's unity seems to be causing jitters within Deputy President William Ruto's quarters.

Consequently, Ruto's campnhas been seen bashing both leaders, though the DP has been concentrating only on the former Prime Minister.

Speaking on Saturday, the former Subukia lawmaker said that the Uhuru-Raila union might transform into a formation that might see Uhuru  remain in power after the 2022 general polls.

He cautioned Kenyans against casting aspersions, noting that more could be going on between the two which might shock them in due time.

"Nadhani kuna mengi yanayoendelea baina ya hawa viongozi ambayo wakenya hawayajui. Na sidhani kabisa Uhuru ataondoka kitini baada ya 2022.

(I think there are lots of arrangements secretly going on between the two and I really doubt that Uhuru will leave power after 2022)," said Wamwere.

He was speaking on Radio Sauti Ya Mwananchi's Cheche show on Saturday evening.

Wamwere said that Uhuru would be justified to do the same even after earlier confirming that he will be willing to leave power and retire once a new leader comes in.

He termed it the Democratic right of every qualified person to seek a political seat, adding  its very normal for politicians to fight to remain in power.

However, he stressed on the need for the political class to observe democracy, failure to which initial problems might reoccur.

"Ni sawa hawa viongozi kupigania viti. Lakini lazima tufuatilie democrasia, la sivyo uchaguzi mwenyewe hautakuwa was haki.

(Its very fine for them to scramble for positions, but it must be done democratically, failure to which we might not have fair polls in the first place)," he added.

However, both Uhuru and Rails have remained silent on their 2022 plans, while Ruto's allies continue to popularize his presidential bid.
