A top Standard Media Group journalist has confirmed his suspension following a controversial article that elicited criticism from Capitol Hill offices.
Geoffrey Mosoku, a veteran political and social justice writer was suspended pending investigations by the Mombasa Road-based media house.
In a detailed piece two months ago, Mosoku exposed alleged probe by DCI on a vehicle believed to be of opposition leader Raila Odinga over tax evasion.
In a rejoinder, Raila through his lawyers demanded a public apology by the media group, threatening legal action.
Months later, the SGL has opted to relieve Mosoku off his duties temporarily pending independent investigations to the matter.
"I am hearing the rumours as well," Mosoku said when responding to questions by Hivisasa over the suspension claims on Tuesday.
When pressed further, he said, "All will be well brother, no human is limited. This life is a journey," a confirmation about his suspension from the media house.
A source at Standard Group who spoke in confidence to this writer said the veteran journalist is only 'on suspension pending probe'.
"Suspensions are common in a media house. He's a credible journalist and I am pretty sure that he (Mosoku) will return in due course. He never tampers with the credibility of his investigations," he said.
Cases of journalists facing wrath in newsrooms over stories targeting top politicians are common. At Standard Group, Mosoku has been reprimanded twice in as many months.
In October, a month after his controversial Range Rover article, Standard Group was forced to recall circulations of Standard newspaper.
The article had highlighted intrigues surrounding court battles between Raila's wife Ida Odinga and daughter-in-law Lwam Bekele over Fidel Odinga's estate.
