Khalwale was the topic of discussion on Thursday after a video of him carrying stones after chaos erupted in Kibra emerged online.

Reacting to the incident, Raila termed it as unfortunate one, adding that Khalwale has demeaned himself just because he wants to please Deputy President William Ruto.

The former lawmaker had pitched tent in Kibra while on a mission to guard Jubilee candidate McDonald Mariga’s votes before he faced hostility in the area.

"He left Ikolomani recently for Kibra as a geologist. He took stones from Kibra and then he began to check if there was gold in them (Ametoka Ikolomani amekuja hapa Kibra kuwa geologist. Anachukua mawe hapa Kibra kutafuta gold)," Raila said.

The outspoken politician has continued to receive endless criticism after the video went viral. He has, however, insisted that he did nothing wrong. He claimed that he had to pick the stones after angry youths charged at him over his presence in Kibra.

DP Ruto's allies have asked the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) and Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiangi to take action following the chaotic incidents witnessed in the by-election.
