Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party leader Raila Odinga met with members of the Kisii community on Friday in a bid to endear the community to his party's candidate Imran Okoth.
Raila described the meeting in glowing terms, saying that it was a pleasant one.
"Had a pleasant meeting with a delegation of representatives from the Gusii community who reside in Kibra. They all pledged to support Benard Okoth Imran in the upcoming by-election on 7th November. #Okoth4kibra #MbelePamoja, " Mr Odinga tweeted.
In a post on Twitter on Friday, the ODM party also said that the community members had pledged to rally behind Bernard Okoth Otieno.
"Kisiis living in Kibra have affirmed their support for the ODM Party. They say Bernard Otieno Okoth is their man. On the 7th of November (next week Thursday), they have a date with Okoth. They know what they want and that BOO will be their next MP #KibraNiODM #BOOWillDoIt, " the ODM party tweet read.
The meeting comes just days to the end of the campaign period.
Kibra constituency is a turf of the ODM party having been represented for years by Raila when it was still part of Langata constituency.
The late former Kibra MP Ken Okoth was a member of the opposition party.
Raila Odinga descended on the constituency on Saturday to campaign for the ODM candidate, sending signals that the ODM party was approaching the by-election with all seriousness.
The by-election is slated for November 7 and has attracted a number of parties who have fronted strong candidates that experts say will give the ODM front-runner a run for his money.
