A herbal doctor in Eldoret town says he has developed a herbal medicine with an ability to lower risks of one getting cancer.
According to Dr Jamal Mungatana, the medicine named Anti-Cancer, made from herbs, leaves and seeds among others was developed about two years ago.
"This medicine has a combination of 24 different medicines and is capable to not only prevent one from getting cancer but it can also treat those already with the disease," said Dr Mungatana.
Speaking at the Eldoret Central Primary School Grounds on Friday during the Sisibo cultural festival, the herbal doctor said he has already made a request to the area leadership to help push the medicine to be subjected to tests by Kenya Medical Research Institute (KeMRI) so as to confirm its ability.
The request was made to Uasin Gishu Governor Jackson Mandago who directed the County Culture CECM to take up the matter.
"I'm confident about the ability of this anti-cancer and all I need is for it to be tested by KeMRI so that we work on ways to avail it to the people and save them from this deadly disease," noted Dr Mungatana.
"We have herbal medicines that are able to treat many diseases only that people still believe so much on modern medicines," he added.
Cancer is among the leading killer diseases not only in Kenya but also globally.
Statistics by the World Health Organization (WHO) indicate that in 2018, 7.6 million people died from cancer accounting to 13 per cent of all deaths worldwide.
