Uasin Gishu County Commissioner Abdirisack Jaldesa has put on notice businessman selling illegal alcohol and drugs saying that they will be arrested.
He said those who will be found will face the full force of the law since it is against the law.
"There has been a rise in the sale of illicit drugs in this town as unscrupulous businesspersons are now targeting the youth, majority of whom are university and college students," said Jaldesa.
He reiterated that estates which have experienced increased sale of illicit alcohol and drugs include Huruma, Munyaka, Langas, and Kamukunji.
Jaldesa who spoke to the press in his office on Wednesday noted that they are working with chiefs and their assistants to ensure that those involved in this illegal business are brought to book.
“We have started crackdown in those areas and we will arrest anyone involved regardless of his political or tribal affiliation. Our aim is to stop this nonsense once and for all. We cannot stay mum while the future of our children is being destroyed,” Uasin Gishu County Commissioner added.
Jaldesa further warned those selling alcohol near schools saying that they will be closed to ensure students have a conducive environment of learning.
He said bars should be at least 200 meters from schools which is according to the law.
