Addressing media in his office in Nakuru on Monday, Natembeya warned politicians who are misinforming residents concerning the exercise.

While stating that the census exercise is vital for the planning of the country as far as matters economy are concerned, he said everyone will be counted wherever they are and that politicians should stop telling people to move to their local home counties or constituencies.

“Those are primitive behaviours by a section of politicians telling people to move from one area to another in order to be counted. What is important is for the leaders to urge the locals to cooperate with the census officials so that everyone is counted” said the Regional Commissioner.

According to the RC, since the exercise commenced, there has not been any ill report in the entire Rift valley region which comprises 14 counties.

He was however quick to note that there have been some concerns of the exercise being slow in some areas, an issue he says has been sorted.

“So far since the exercise commenced, we have not heard of any challenges apart from the concerns raised that it was slow in some parts. But we are appealing to members of the public to be patient and cooperate with the census officials” said Natembeya.
