Migori Governor Okoth Obado has confirmed claims that he held talks with two former area MPs last week, at one of his houses within the county.
This follows claims that the second term county boss met former lawmakers John Kobado (Uriri), and Omondi Abyanga (Nyatike) at his Rapogi home.
However, he has said that despite it being an all-politician meeting, there was no politics discussed during the deliberations, except development matters.
He refuted claims that they discussed who will become the next governor, a decision he said remains in the hands of the public, saying that it was about bettering the people's lives.
"I meet almost all leaders in Migori to discuss issues affecting our people and how best we can resolve them, not who will become governor in 2022, that will be decided by the people, not Obado,” he told Standard on Saturday.
His remarks were echoed by Anyanga, who has recently been in the front line in urging resident and politicians to accord the governor the support he needs to deliver his campaign promises ahead of his 2022 retirement.
"As Migori leaders we must stand with our governor. We will not allow leaders to abuse the governor in political forums," said the leader who has feared interest in succeeding Obado.
