Safaricom’s interim CEO Michael Joseph has hinted at remaining at the top of the management after he was appointed in the acting capacity.

Joseph took over the position following the demise of Bob Collymore. 

Collymore died after a long battle with cancer. In a press conference on Friday, Collymore said that he will make sure that the operations at the firm remain at top gear. He noted that he has good plans for the firm after he was given the mandate to step in. 

“Personally, this is really my company. I really want to make sure nothing happens to this company and will stay on for as long as is necessary,” he said, as quoted by Citizen Digital.

Joseph said that it is unfortunate that Collymore died after a long battle with illness but maintained that he will do his best to transform the company after taking over the management.

“What happened was really unfortunate. However, how long I stay as interim CEO, I don’t know,” he added. 

Joseph served in the capacity for a period of ten years before he decided to quit. 

The South African-born American had recommended Collymore to succeed him after he quit the positon before he staged a comeback.The firm has more than 46 million subscribers.
