A section of residents of Migosi estate now wants the Kisumu County government to move with speed and repair the road that runs from Ezra Gumbe Primary School, to Mamboleo showground.
As the main road in the estate, the facility is now impassable grinding operations almost to a halt. The road has numerous potholes, and coupled with rain being witnessed in various parts of the country, it sometimes becomes impassable.
It is a busy road especially during school days, as it runs beside Ken Obura Primary and Secondary Schools.
Kepah Masinde who operates a shop opposite the schools said most customers cannot access his shop because of the sorry state of the road.
“Whenever they repair roads within town they should also consider people in the estates by ensuring that major roads such as this one are passable,” he said in an interview on Monday.
His sentiments were echoed by Everline Auma, a business lady. “This road is in a terribly state which makes it difficult for customers to access our businesses,” lamented Auma.
According to a section of motorbike riders, the road started showing signs of dilapidation in 2017, but since then, no repair efforts have been put in place by the County government of Kisumu.
“This road started having potholes last year but one (2017) but no repair efforts have been put in place. When you carry a customer sometimes you fall down even during dry seasons,” said James Odongo, a motorcycle rider.
“Like yesterday I fell down with one of my customers who was carrying rice,” said another rider named Dennis Lusaka.
They want the County government to urgently come to their rescue by repairing the road.
