A Silverstone aircraft headed to Lamu has crashed at Wilson Airport shortly after take-off.
Preliminary reports indicate that the plane developed mechanical hitches before the accident.
According to a report on Citizen Digital, passengers and crew have been safely disembarked from the plane.
In a statement, Silverstone management confirmed the incident.
"We can confirm that our Fokker 50, 5Y-IZO has had an incident while taking off at Wilson Airport at 9am this morning. The aircraft was operating the Wilson-Mombasa-Lamu-Mombasa-Wilson route,” Silverstone Air said in a statement as reported by Citizen.
