The lawmaker said the tournament is aimed at engaging the youth during this festive season to curb drug abuse and zero down crime cases.

"The purpose of this tournament is to ensure our boys and girls are busy playing at the field instead of being idle in villages something that may lead them to engage in crime, abuse drugs and illicit sex," he said.

He called on players participating in the tournament to play friendly.

"All players to maintain discipline and play friendly. The competition should be fair because we are all one," he added.

During the launch, three matches were played whereby Ititi FC beat Ragwanda FC 5 - 0 in the first match, Bogeka FC dismantled Nyosia FC 4 - 0 in the second match, while 2018 champions Soko FC were thrashed 1-0 by Nyaore FC in the last match of the day.

Top two male teams and one female team from the ward level will qualify to the constituency level.

Finals for the tournament have been scheduled for 23rd December 2019.
