Jubilee Party Secretary-General Raphael Tuju has finally revealed why Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i was appointed as a 'Super Minister' in President Uhuru Kenyatta’s government.
In an interview on NTV’s Sidebar show on Tuesday, Tuju said Matiang’i's docket deals with coordination from the village level to the national level.
He reiterated that as a head of coordination across the country, he is also expected to coordinate the activities of specific ministries in the cabinet where he has been given a central role by the president.
“This again is one of the reasons why people don’t understand how that comes into.... I mean people read things that are not relevant. The ministry of internal security is actually the ministry of internal security and government coordination, yes that is its full name. If you are doing government coordination then you are the one who can chair the coordination.
“The provisional administration for example, what you speak about provincial administration which is in the internal security and national coordination docket, where you have all county commissioners all the way to the chiefs. It is in every county, it is in every village,“ he said in part.
Tuju also said President Uhuru’s government deserves credit for the changes he has made in the education sector since he was elected into power.
He dismissed claims there is a rift in the cabinet following the claims of assassinating Deputy President William Ruto before 2022.
