The body of Maseno university student who had drowned in River Moiben was retrieved on Sunday morning.

Nicholas Kipleting , 24-year-old Bachelor of Science student drowned on 26th December 2019 and family members have been looking for his body in vain.

Confirming the incident Soy Sub-County OCPD Fanuel Nasio, said the deceased was bathing when he slid and drowned in River Moiben. 

"I want to confirm that the body of the deceased  Nicholas Kipleting who drowned River Moiben on 26th December 2019 has been retrieved on Sunday morning after efforts by local divers," said the Soy OCPD.

Speaking to the press at River Moiben, Nasio said the body of the deceased was not in a good condition when it was retrieved since it had stayed in the water for over ten days.

"The body of the deceased has been taken to Moi Teaching and Reffferal hospital awaiting burial," added the Soy subcounty police boss. 

 He, however, warned residents against taking a bath in the river saying it's dangerous and might lose their lives.

Family members of the deceased led by the elder brother Bensolus Kiprono had earlier called for help from both the county and National government to retrieve the body which retrieval exercise had not borne any fruits.
