Uasin Gishu governor Jackson Mandago is the Presidential Award Medallion winner for performing well in his first term in office (2013-2017).
During the award ceremony which took place at his office in Eldoret on Thursday, Mandago pledged to put in more effort in serving the residents.
The county boss was given a first-class medallion for having successfully established devolution in his county.
Nominations which led to the awards were conducted in 2018 and Uasin Gishu, under Mandago's leadership led the pack.
Some of the successful projects initiated by Mandago's administration include road construction, the establishment of early childhood development centres, improvement of health infrastructure and bettering of Eldoret town business atmosphere.
World Bank recognized the tremendous efforts that the county government put to actualise the benefits of devolution.
“I am very pleased to have received this award. It strengthens my resolve to serve the people of Uasin Gishu county. I thank His Excellency President Uhuru Kenyatta Uasin Gishu county executive, the county government staff as well as the residents for their immense support in developing our county," noted Mandago.
Mandago was the first to be elected governor of Uasin Gishu in 2013 on a United Republican Party (URP) ticket.
He was reelected in 2017 on a Jubilee ticket.
