Ruto on Monday kicked a storm when he claimed that a section of top government officials from Mt Kenya region are planning to eliminate him.

Speaking on Thursday, the former Minister said that Ruto's assassination claims should not be brushed off, as they come amid tribal tension.

"We should not take such allegations casually, remember there is a lot of tribal suspicion in this country," Kirwa said on Citizen TV's Day Break show.

The blame has since landed on four Cabinet Secretaries accused of holding meetings at the La Mada Hotel with an intention of realizing the alleged ambition.

The group includes CSs Joe Mucheru (ICT), Peter Munya (Trade), Sicily Kariuki (Health), James Macharia (Transport), and Principal Secretaries and parastatal bosses.

However, speaking when they presented themselves to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) offices on Monday, three of the CSs denied having such intentions.

"We have made it clear that at no time did we ever met anywhere to plan to kill the Deputy President of the Republic of Kenya or any other person for that matter. But we also want to confirm that we had a meeting at Lamada and we will continue meeting, because there is freedom of association," said Munya as quoted by Capital FM.
